"O mankind! We
created you from a male and a female and made you into
nations and tribes that you may know and honor each other
(not that you should despise one another). Indeed the most
honorable of you in the sight of God is the most righteous"
(Qur'an 49:13)
"Say ye (Muslims): 'We believe in God and
the revelation given to us and to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac,
Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus,
and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord. We make no
distinction between any of them, and it is unto Him that we
surrender ourselves." (Quran 2:136)
"And Verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an
exalted standard of character" (Qur'an 68:4)
"O Messenger of Allah! It is a great
Mercy of Allah that you are gentle and kind towards them;
for, had you harsh and hardhearted, they would all have
broken away from you" (Qur'an 3:159)
"We sent you not (O Muhammad), but as
a Mercy for all creatures" (Qur'an 21:107)
"Most certainly, you (people) have in
the messenger of Allah an excellent pattern (of
behavior)" (Qur'an 33:21)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
" The best among you are the best in
character (having good manners)." (Bukhari, Book
#73, Hadith #61)
"I was sent to perfect good
character" (Muwatta, Book #47, Hadith #47.1.8)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) called for the
universal brotherhood of man at all times. One of the major
function and goals expressed by the prophet was to develop a
sense of higher character among the people and to help them
forget their minor and narrow differences, such as color,
race and nationality, so that they could rise above these
limitations and reap the fruits of human brotherhood by
helping each other in all that is for the common good of
humanity.
